The Aquatic Connection teaches year-round at locations throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area. Courses are currently being offered at the following colleges and universities:

REQUIRED GEAR

  • Student are required to provide their own personal gear - (mask, snorkel, open-heel fins, boot, gloves and text book).

  • Rental of personal gear is available for $75 or can be purchased at a discount from the Aquatic Connection.

  • Text book, dive tables and logbook rental: $30.00.

  • Check out dives required for certification. Local check out fee is $63.00 which includes equipment rental and admissions to quarry.

  • Check out is also offered in Ft Lauderdale FL May and December or Mexico in March and October.

The Aquatic Connection offers the following Scuba Courses: Specialty Training
While entry level courses provide you with the basic knowledge of scuba, specialty training allows you to learn about specific areas that interest you. The Aquatic Connection offers classes:

The prerequisites vary for each course, please consult the individual descriptions for specifics.

  Further Advanced Training
The Aquatic Connection offers training through the instructor level. Instruction offers many opportunities for people to share their knowledge and enthusiasm about scuba with others. If you are interested in furthering in your education, please contact the shop.


OPEN WATER SCUBA COURSE

The Open Water Scuba Course consist of six weeks of training. Each of the six class sessions meets for four hours with two hours of lecture and two hours of pool practice time. We expect you to attend all scheduled class sessions.

Students need to supply their own personal gear and student kit for the course. Personal gear includes boots, gloves, mask, fins and snorkel. Gear may either purchased or rented from the shop or you may borrow gear from a friend. Instructors will be happy to help you determine if borrowed gear fits properly.

Upon completion of the lecture and pool session students need to schedule an open water experience. This two day training session is typically held at Guppy Gulch in Delta, Pennsylvania. The check-out fee is $63.00 which includes all equipment and entrance into the quarry. In addition you may finish your open water training on one of our trips or through a referral.

Successful completion of the course involves completing all pool work, the open water sessions, and a multiple-choice test. 


REFRESHER COURSE

The Refresher Course is designed to allow a previously certified diver the opportunity to review the skills and techniques which have become rusty from lack of use. We will review all of the basic skills and introduce you to new techniques that you may not have learned.

Participants in this course must hold a certification card from any recognized agency. The course fee is $50 and includes a two evenings in the pool. You may want to attend a two day open water check-out at Guppy Gulch for an additional $63.00 which includes all equipment and entrance into the quarry.


ADVANCED OPEN WATER SCUBA COURSE

The advanced open water diver course fills the, gap between Open Water Diver and Specialty Diver. It involves completion of the: deep diving, night diving, and navigation specialties. This is a wonderful opportunity to accelerate the learning process that, otherwise could be gained only through significant, time consuming experience. You can quickly prepare yourself to be comfortable in whatever diving situations you my encounter.

Requirements for the course include; a recognized open water certification card, a compass, up line, cylume stick, and dive light as well as your basic equipment. .


NIGHT DIVING SPECIALTY COURSE

This course is designed to increase your comfort level in low and/or no visibility situations. You will learn about turbid water and how to make a proper dive plan for the visibility conditions you may encounter.

Participants are required to have all of their basic equipment plus an underwater dive light, cyalume stick, and compass. You are welcome to rent any equipment that is necessary from the Aquatic Connection.


UNDERWATER NAVIGATION
SPECIALTY COURSE

Keeping track of where you are and learning how to get where you want to go are great ways to increase your comfort level. Compass skills are also required to locate wrecks reefs, and other interesting dive sites. During the course you will learn how to navigate by underwater topography, by the use of a compass, and how to compute your air consumption.

Participants must hold a open water certification card and have a compass. Other equipment may be rented from the Aquatic Connection as needed.


OCEAN DIVING AND BOAT ETIQUETTE
SPECIALTY COURSE

Much of the diving in our local area is done from a boat. This course enables you to learn how to face ocean and bay dives with a new level of confidence. You will learn boat terminology and the proper ways to handle yourself and your gear both on and off the dive boat.

Participants should have all of their basic equipment plus a dive light and knife.


DEEP DIVING
SPECIALTY COURSE

North Atlantic ocean diving is a wonderful opportunity to explore wrecks, hunt artifacts, lobster ,and big fish. Many of the wrecks, however, lie deeper than 60' in deep diving territory. This course, will introduce you to the techniques and skills necessary to make deep diving a safe, adventurous option. You will learn decompression stops, equipment planning, emergency procedures, and about high altitude diving as well as other topics.

Participants must have a dive light, knife, decompression line, and reel in addition to their basic equipment.


ARTIFACT SEARCH AND RECOVERY AND LIGHT
SALVAGE SPECIALTY COURSE

Ever have the urge to explore the depths for hidden treasure? This course will introduce you to the skills necessary for successful artifact recovery. We will cover search patterns, use of lift-bags, and the identification of underwater artifacts.

Students are required to have a goody bag, dive knife, light, and lift bag in addition to their basic equipment. We provide 1,000 and 2,000 pound lift bags.
